Level 2: Business Intelligence Development

Access campus data and build and develop reports, visualizations, and dashboards using local CSU data and/or published campus data sources available in the UT Data Hub.

Skills You Might Need:

  • Advanced data analysis
  • Familiarity with UT Data Hub structure, processes, and standards
  • BI tool training in the selected tool [Tableau, Power BI, QuickSight]
  • Knowledge of relational database concepts including security
  • Working experience of data validation techniques

Related Technology:

  • SQL
  • Tableau and/or other BI tools
  • Alation

Possible Staff Roles:

Some CSUs might consider ensuring they have the appropriate staff to support their goals and needs with regards to data. Here are some potential roles and positions your unit might consider:

  • Data Analyst
  • BI Developer
  • QA Analyst

General Essential Training:

  • Basic SQL
  • Advanced user training in BI tools

BI Tool Training:

UT Specific Essential Training:

  • Orientation to the UT Data Hub (currently in development)
  • Basic training in Alation (currently in development)
